A former prison guard at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, where a US official once stated a "culture of sexual abuse," has been sentenced to eight years in prison. The ex prison guard - Andrew Jones, 36, from Clovis, was found guilty of sexually abusing multiple female inmates.
This comes as part of charges against eight correctional officers at FCI Dublin. Jones, who pleaded guilty to abusing three inmates, was involved in the culture of sexual abuse, which also implicated the former warden and chaplain. The sentences handed down include over five years for the former warden.
The abuse occurred between July 2020 and June 2021 during Jones' supervision of inmates in the prison's food services department. Jones has been held accountable for his actions, pleading guilty to six counts of sexual abuse of a ward and one count of making false statements to investigators.
